Year after year, Virgin Mobile was rated highest when it comes to voice quality and signal quality, but Virgin Mobile is just a reseller of Sprint. Sprint was the first carrier to roll out 3G, and they are looking to the future with WiMax. What has taken Sprint down is their customer service. The new CEO is working hard to fix that, but I think it might be too late. I called Sprint customer service the other day, and I must say it was actually a positive experience for once. I completely agree with everything you stated....
I got a CS rep that was more than helpful, It was amazing!

| | Re: Network I've been with Sprint a long time and have no service issues and I travel a lot. They've added CDMA to 4000-8000 iDen cellsites in last couple years. They also have better roaming agreements than any carrier.
Still not satisfied with support but I don't call them that much.
Would be interesting to see the CDMA churn vs iDen. It's the iDen side that's bleeding lots of customers.

I would like to see the stats too. But I would bet it is the Sprint side. I handle the cell phones for our company and almost never have a problem with Nextel. Once they were bought out by Sprint, I still didn't have problems because I have a Nextel Corporate line to call - almost zero wait time. Once we moved a couple of Nextel Blackberry's over to Sprint, that's when the "fun" started. Sh*tty customer service, no priority number to call, broken promises, unreal hold times with constant call drops to boot. We almost canceled solely based on the Sprint issues.
OTOH, our Nextel is still rock solid. I went to the desert a couple of weeks ago and 4-wheeled into some remote areas. I tested my Nextel along side my AT&T and guess what? The ATT failed miserably (surprised?). No signal at all. The Nextel - 4 bars when on top of a hill, off and on in the canyons. I figure it's because Nextel is what most first responders use. Next weekend, I'll test Nextel against T-Mobile. I wish I had a Verizon phone.

THe CDMA side (Sprint) actually gained customers, but it wasn't enough to offset the loss of customers on the iDEN side (Nextel).

We are getting pitched pretty hard by the other carriers to move over. They claim the iDEN isn't being expanded anymore, which I think is a shame. Even Sprint themselves is trying to get the iDEN users off that system and over to Sprint but without an effective walkie-talkie system it will be very hard since many people signed up for Nextel a long time ago for that very reason.

·WOW Internet and..
| Sorry to tell you but Sprint, VZ, and Alltel are all roaming partners. So you can't claim one has better roaming agreements then the other. Alltel to Sprint and VZ, Sprint to Alltel and VZ, VZ to Sprint and Alltel. How can VZW or Alltel not have almost the same network? Roaming is roaming when the agreements are all the same between carriers. | |

So that agreement is better than the one Alltel has with Verizon, meaning Sprint customers can still use Power vision services vs Verizon customers who will not have Vcast services.
All roaming agreements are different and contain different services allowed, if your customers can have all access to services in area's that you do not service then you have a better overall coverage than your competitors.
