scams @sbcglobal.net	[General] New Computer - How to Connect Existing DSL Line I will purchase a new Dell computer (Vista Business) next month. I currently have a Dell computer (Windows XP Pro) using a AT&T DSL connection, using the the 2Wire Home Portal 1000HW Router. Would appreciate any specific guidance in how to setup up the new computer for the DSL connection. Some Specific Questions: Do I use a wizard or feature of the Network and Sharing Center to make the DSL connection for the computer? Do I have to make any changes to the Router even though my email address and AT&T information stays the same? Thanks, for any help, Sam.

Connecting your new computer can be a simple as connecting a cat5 patch cable between the computer and the 2wire. a wireless connection is almost as easy You will not need to make any changes to the Router,email address or AT&T information

scams @sbcglobal.net	reply to scams Many thanks for your reply. It sounds almost too easy to setup the new computer for DSL operation!! Very good for us newbies. One other question and for my education: when I connect the cat 5 cable between the computer tower and the router, I assume that Vista will automatically detect the router and make the necessary internal adjustment so that it can connect to the router/internet?
