| Unexpected rate change
I have the Digital Premier package in Lake County, Florida. In early March I attempted to access Channel 149 PLEX and received an on screen message NOT AUTHORIZED. I was told when I subscribed to Digital Premier Service that I would receive all basic digital channels which included channels 140 to 149. I contacted customer service and asked why I was receiving a NOT AUTHORIZED message for that channel. The CSR stated that channel 149 was included in my package and she would have the problem corrected. Several hours later a technician called and asked me to describe the problem. He said he would check into the problem. Shortly thereafter I found I could access channel 149. Later that day I received a call from a Comcast employee that described himself as a technical supervisor. He stated that in fact channel 149 was not included in my package, and was only available individually. He stated that he added the channel and it would cost an additional $2.99 per month. I advised him that I did not authorize any Comcast employee to make any change to my account that would increase the monthly cost. He indicated that he would remove the channel from my lineup. When I received the April bill I saw where channel 149 was added and removed. When I received the May invoice I discovered I was now being charged an additional $12.00 per month. I have not been able to get a satisfactory explanation from a Comcast employee for the increase in cost. The only thing a Comcast representative was willing to do was to give me a promotional rate on my HSI for three months. I am tying to find out if the the price increase was due to a scheduled price increase or did the changes made to my account by Comcast employees move me to a different price schedule. Has anyone reading this post experienced the same problem or can explain the reason for the rate increase? Thanks |

| Here in the Chicago area, Plex is part of Digital Starter, so should be included with any digital package. Maybe they added the entire Encore package or upgraded you to a package that includes Encore. Plex is just one of their channels and shows mix of movies from different Encore channels.
Here, there are 3 digital packages: Starter (same as analog standard/expanded with a few digital only), Classic (BBC America, SciFi, NatGeo, etc..), Plus (more minor channels, and all Encore channels.) There is also the stand-alone Sports/Entertainment package, and others that include various numbers of premium channels. |
