Well here is another kicker, I lugged an old (circa 2002) Westell Wirespeed home from work and I get my rated dl speed no matter what. I seriously don't get it. It obviously isn't a Verizon only problem because I would have had the same result.

So, when using the Wirespeed modem, your up/dn numbers are always good ? If so it's a fair bet the other modem was a contributing factor, if there's a firmware update available, that might help out. -- reboot, reset, reconfigure, then recycle.
