I don't plan on using it myself, I just want something I can install on someone's PC and it'll actually remove the majority of virus and whatnot. Including the damn random name dll files created by vundu and whatnot. |

if it is already infested then you will need more tools to clear it. What AV you use afterwards is matter of preference.

However, no AV will protect against anything that is out there if the user does not harden the defence further.

Yeah I know how it all works, I just want peoples opinions on the two AV's.
I'm not willing to infect my pc with vundo and whatnot and I don't have time to sit through scans on other peoples pc's so I can't see if it's actually removed the files or not.
The main problem I'm looking to fix is the randomly generated dll files that are generally detected as virtumond or vundo that are constantly in use and have implemented themselves into winlogin/userinit as well as run and whatnot.
I've found these files aren't easy to get rid of and barely anything detect them.
But I've been playing around with different methods of removing them, without registry edits, and have yet to come to a sure fire solution.
I just thought antivir would have a high success rate due to the fact that it actually detects these files whereas few other AV's do and from what I've seen, it does have the potential to remove them.
I just wanted to add that I've tried Avast and the few times I have installed it on someone's pc, it's removed the ability to run any executable file saying the account doesn't have proper administrative rights despite being logged into an admin account. So I'd rather not even touch it anymore.. |

My suggestion is to try both - See how each one preforms on your system. Than you'll know which to use 
I like Antivir personally. |

| I agree, try both. On my machine, Antivir didn't slow my machine down at all, didn't even know it was running. Tried AVG, 7.5, even gave 8.0 a shot, don't need the bloat and slow down. Can't say anything about detection hype, use a online scanner for my monthly scan. With AVG 8.0, it's funny, you scan and some green thing tells you if it's safe or not. I know you can turn it off, but it's still funny at the ways AV companies try to keep up with each other. |
