| Magic Jack site may not be secure for credit info? Is Magic Jacks credit card page secure? My Opera browser says no! |
I just took my Opera browser over to the magicjack.com website, and did a dry run through of a checkout. This involves pseudo name, pseudo address, pseudo email. I was surprised the personal info page was listed as not secure by Opera, however when I got to the credit card entry page, Opera indicated it is also not secure.

| The credit card page uses a mix of secure and non-secure elements with a number of different java scripts. Hard to tell if one of the scripts encrypts your credit card data or not. Since the page is a mix of secure and nonsecure elements, it should display a security concern when examined by software looking for weaknesses.
Looking at the certificate summary you posted, 1024bit encryption is pretty good. Since part of the page is "secure" and there isn't much other than the credit card to encrypt, I'd assume the secure part is for the credit card and the non-secure part is for the other elements of the page.
However, someone with more experience in examining the page source and understanding the Java scripts would have to take a look to see whether the credit card data is being encrypted with the 1024 bit encryption. Common sense would make you think so but I'm not the one who can read the source page info well enough to make a good determination. |
