Don't know for ure if this is the right forum... I have a firewall that blocks a lot of content.. in my router.. can I use one of my home PCs to access the internet through the router for speed but authenticate through my dialup for the content somehow? Is there a way to set the proxy in IE for that somehow? |

| reply to raoulangel You can log into your router and change the filtering options to suit your needs. The specific screens and method will depend on the make and model of the router. -- Mayors of New York come from nowhere and go nowhere. Wallace Sayre (apparently, so do governors... ) |

| reply to raoulangel There is no way.
Your dialup connection and authentication would be one session; any connection made through the router would all be on a seperate, authenticated, session with your ISP.
Those using satellite connections often have something close to what you are asking; but the ISP is provisioned for this two session traffic. It knows that uploads will essentially be through the telephone dialup connection, and downloads through the satellite. This requires special equipment to split the traffic at your side of things, and special arrangements by the ISP to understand it. -- ============ MS-MVP 2004 - -2008, ASAP Member Users Helping Users

| reply to raoulangel Based on the information you've provided, Here's what I'm assuming is the case;
XXX XXX (somebody else's router, wired or wireless) | | | | |=============> Your PC1 | |=============> Your PC2 | |=============> Your PC3 | |=============> Your PCn ... - - - - - dialup to your ISP
If your topology is similar to the rudimentary diagram above, whoever controls the router has control of the content filtering. Logging into your dialup connection will not allow you to bypass the restrictions in the router. You need to contact the person in charge of that router to resolve any filtering issues for connections through that router. Of course if it's your router, you can make the changes. -- Mayors of New York come from nowhere and go nowhere. Wallace Sayre (apparently, so do governors... ) |
