ac6bw join:2003-11-09 San Jose, CA | $55 10 Mbps/1.5 here I am outside the AT&T/Yahoo DSL service area. For this reason, AT&T agreed to provide U-Verse 10 Mbps/1.5 VDSL service, without TV, for $55. I'm happy with this price. |

Is Yahoo branding banned in some place? |

What he means is that his loop length is too great to qualify for regular DSL so they allowed him to get U-verse Internet without TV.
Same story here in Illinois... anyone who can't get DSL is being allowed to order U-verse Internet without TV if they wish, and the pricing is the same as regular DSL. |

 | reply to patcat88 My uncle lives in the suburbs of St. Louis, he can't get their normal Yahoo branded DSL, but he can get UVerse. It makes no sense to me, but I've double checked that even with our own SBC Direct guys, and that is the way it is. -- Intel Quad Core QX6700 @3500Mhz/Asus P5N32-E SLI/4x 1024Mb Corsair/Seagate 750.10/PNY 7800GTs SLI/Silverstone 850W/Custom water cooler |

Why is everyone stuck on branding? All of AT&T's internet offerings are branded with AT&T/Yahoo... DSL, Dial-up, and U-Verse VDSL... makes no difference.
It makes perfect sense.
The equipment (fiber optic) which brings U-verse Internet (VDSL) to the neighborhood is different than regular DSL (ADSL) equipment.
Most likely, he's too far away from the Central Office or an RT to get regular DSL but a U-verse VRAD box is within 3000 feet.
Besides, why get too hung up on the type of DSL being offered when it's now available through U-verse for the same price? |
