Heck yeah I'm buying. The only thing that would kep me from it, is if this service had high lag, or for some reason was not available. <br><br>You hear that out there Millenicom?  :)]]></description>

I don't feel that they can support the cost of doing a nationwide rollout of such for all areas. Though I can see intercity areas getting it, but hell they already have cable and dsl access..  Why spend the extra cash there? I'd work on making less latency and have it so you can just lock on a tower without the whole tower antenna beam focus crap going on.  Strongest signal should prevail ..  No damn signal toggling]]></description>

But Max Signal's experience with long FCC delays is troubling.<br><br>Maybe Millenicom could turn themselves into a serious broadband player if they had the ability to offer service from whatever towers were available in a given area.<br><br>It might conceivably be easier for a reseller to negotiate unlimited access to a provider's network if that network was intended to be just one of several providers sharing the load.<br><br>Here's a list of major available/about to be available wireless networks in the US:<br><br>- Verizon (EVDO)<br>- Sprint (EVDO)<br>- Alltel (EVDO)<br>- AT&T (HSDPA)<br>- T-Mobile (HSDPA)<br>- ClearWire (WiMax)<br><br>Did I miss any?<br><br>T-Mobile is somewhat of an unknown, since they have just started to deploy their new network.<br><br>The numbers Millenicom is quoting (4Mbps unlimited for $50 per month) sound similar to Xohm's original numbers (from memory, 4 Mbps unlimited for about $40 per month.)<br><small>--<br>50775@fwd.pulver.com</small>]]></description>

I mentioned two places I go to for coverage tests and they said both would be good coverage-wise though one of them, which by the way is covered by EvDO and HSDPA, would be even better. But the other place is EvDO-only and they saaid I'd have good signal there.<br><br>Hmm, 4 Mbps. That would mean someone backhauling multiple T1's to the tower. That would mean NOT Sprint, right? Because the towers I've bounced off of in both places haven't gotten me above about 1200k down, so they're single-T1. EvDO + HSDPA? EvDO channel bonding? They had to get FCC approval...WiMax with EvDO fallback?<br><br>Lemme just post the e-mail...]]></description>

And Millenicom did not participate in any of the previous auctions nor do they have the funding or relationships in place to be their own national carrier.<br><br>At best they're rolling out Clearwire/Xohm and are waiting on a WiMax device to be approved.  At worst they're moving to a different carrier network.<br><br>The only problem with the Clearwire/Xohm service is it's nowhere near as ubiquitous as Sprint's existing network and won't be for quite a while.<br><br>}Davoice]]></description>
