3 edits | I think your SIP username and password are incorrect (and maybe the server settings to), the SIP account is usually a phone number. In rare cases where the account is the actual MAC address, you must use lowercase characters. CIA has a provisioning system that creates configuration files automatically, based on the registered MAC address in their system. You can actually access that file from a web browser. First, register your MAC address in their system. Then, go to (replace XXXXXXXXXXXX with your MAC address, using lowercase for all literal characters). This should show your configuration file. It's a fairly large file, look for the settings that end with _1_ (for example corresponds to the Proxy setting under the tab Line 1). You may be able to do something like this to have your PAP download the configuration automatically: (replace just your_pap2_ip_address, leave everything else) However the configuration file is usually customized for a SPA2102, and has some additional router settings that the PAP2 may not understand. |

| reply to MizTEcK thanks toro, but if you replace the link mac with the mac in my screenshot, you'll find the XML lists out the MAC as login as well as password (i have no idea why), and as for the server, i tried using the one provided in the XML but it did not connect either, (no response from pinging in command prompt either) |

| reply to MizTEcK You can also start by resetting everything to factory defaults (****73738#1), then save the XML generated by http://voip.cia.com/provision.php?MAC=XXXXXXXXXXXX then remove everything between and then feed it to your PAP2. This removes the SPA2102 specific settings and the automatic provisioning settings, and should be accepted by your PAP2. |

| I set one up for somebody, about 2 months ago and it was working fine. I can still retrieve a fresh copy of his XML file from CIA's provisioning system, using the registered MAC address, but his UserID shows as a phone number (647xxxxxxx) and the Password is something like xxxxx@cia.com |

| Can you use a softphone with the same account settings from the same LAN ? Maybe there's a problem with your router, try putting the PAP2 in the DMZ. Also try using an IP address instead of host name for the Proxy. Ah, one more thing I remembered: their config file doesn't specify a STUN server, but I am pretty sure I had to use one (usually when a VoIP company doesn't provide one, I use stun.softjoys.com). See screenshot above about how I normally configure it (the settings are at the bottom of the SIP tab). |

1 edit | reply to MizTEcK I've already configured the STUN server to stun.voipuser.org
if i remove the stun server and connect PAP2 directly to the Cable Modem, it still would not connect, so I doubt its a router problem, but yea I've directed DMZ to 192.168.1.5 (PAP2) now, still no dial tone/line 1 doesnt light up |

BTW i found this excellent PDF instruction file on configuring PAP2-NA both as dynamic IP as well as static behind a NAT router.
