Gooser711 : I've had this occur on me as well. Normally during the National Broadcast Emergency test screen that's all green with that annoying high pitched buzzing. Tv would turn on right at that point waking me up at night. My tv that was affected by this was a Sharp Aqueous (sp?) 32", LC-32D6U. I've since moved on to DirecTV and the problem went away.

boontonflyer : Checked [all] of the menu selections on the TV {and the STB control}. Found "event timer" selections but none of these were activated. Suspect it may be something in the STB logic. When I get time will have to swap this STB with one of the others and narrow it down to the TV or the STB.

Paul

PS: Patriot Media did program update at 4 AM. Comcast does it at 3 AM!!!

shaffer001 : It sounds like the TV has an auto on feature. I know many have a sleep timer to turn them off. There are a few models that you can use like an alarm clock that come on automatically. The one hour shift is on time may coincide with daylight savings time. Check the menu or manual to see if the TV has this feature, how to access the menu and turn it off.

boontonflyer : One of our HDTV's turns on (by itself) during the early AM. Turns on during the network system update time. This used to happen at EXACTLY 4 AM (occasionally). Now it happens (occasionally) at EXACTLY 3 AM (since Comcast took over). Only happens to this HDTV (1 of 4 in house).

It would appear that when the "update" happens it either emits a "TV power on signal" [just as if you had pushed the button on the TV or the remote] OR the end of the programming update causes a surge that does it.

Paul

PS: Have UPS System (with monitoring PC program) but that doesn't indicate any power fluctuation event on the grid!!
