The most stable OS is Z/Os. Been around since 1968. |

Not sure what it takes to be "Unix", but AuspexOS is just as much "Unix" as SunOS. In fact, AuspexOS is nothing more than a 'hacked' version of SunOS 4.
I'd also qualify NeXTStep as "Unix". Unless the GUI somehow disqualifies it. Yup, you are correct. I've been sleeping at the wheel. Thanks for waking me up. -- Chris Living in Paradise!! |

I guess the [/sarcasm] tag means nothing anymore.
Knowing the original poster, I just figured I'd post some stupid BS and see if he never replied...which has happened again. |

1 edit | reply to slajoh01 Microsoft also takes a substantial amount of fairly placed blame for poorly implemented acquisitions under the guise of innovation which result in distribution of shovelware under a facade Microsoft stability.
Your Dell system was assembled from Chinese components. I'll see your XP stability and raise you an XP SP3 SQL corruption:

| reply to slajoh01 Hardware plays a huge part in an OS's stability. I've been running Dell Precision workstations for years with XP and they are rock-solid.
FWIW, Microsoft takes a lot of blame for the problems people encounter on their ChinaMart computers and their cheesy drivers. |

Not one of those listed is a Unix operating system.
I happen to disagree with most stable, especially Windows ME.
I do agree with OS/2; I still use OS/2, actually eCS. |

Early versions of SunOS were based on BSD, SunOS 4 was the first System-V SunOS 4 was the last BSD based SunOS. I know since I used SunOS 4.1.4 up until Y2K. SunOS 5 was the first System-V SunOS. OOPS! Yeah your right, SunOS 4 was the last BSD. I use SunOS and have for many years. |
