I hope I remember how to play I'll refresh you. - If you're scum, feel free to role-claim early, as in, perhaps, now. It moves the game along nicely. Plus you get 1/2 price popcorn in the lost game. - If you aren't scum, find scum, and remind them of the above. |

except for the fact that the cop knows one person's role right now. |

Also, forgot to mention that we won't learn WHO we lynched (e.g. their role) until the next day.
I bet that this format is exceptionally frustrating for the scum. |

sorry to be playing catch up, but do we have an idea of the ratio good/bad and if there are any power roles besides cop?
I can go back and read the sign-up thread, but am lazy... |

I hope you tip well.. "From the mafia flash site: "This is a mafia variation in which the town can make as many lynches as they want to before the end of the day. However, they do not learn any of the lynched players' roles until the next day." Could be interesting but I'd assume we'd need at least a good 15-16 people in order for it to work. I think I'll do a pretty basic setup. Cop/Doc/Mafia and a few power roles." |

Vote DrewMy personal 'have read' list is full of books about how people think, i.e. "Blink", "Freakonomics", "Predictably Irrational", etc etc.. Perhaps, to much. My first reaction to this (Blink), is that you're posting what's really on your mind.. There was no need for it, as no one asked. So why, I ask, do you decide to, out of the blue, post the mafia POV of the game setup? |

Dezbends stream of conciseness thought process:
13 players.
Lets assume 3 bad and 10 good.
Each night the mafia kill one good guy, and gain more relative power each day they survive.
It seems to me that the best strategy is to lynch more at the beginning of the game (per day) than at the end.
If we lynch one person randomly there is a 23% chance he is scum (based on the assumption there are 3 scum)
So it is likely to get 1 scum with 4 lynches - mafia would be guaranteed one good guy kill leaving
8 players in day 2... 2 bad and 5 good
Which gives us a 28% chance of hitting a scum at random - but we will have non-random info to infer guilt
so I think we could get a scum with 3 lynches
again the mafia kills one town member
Day 3: 4 players 1 bad 3 good
Logic says 2 lynches is better than one - and I can go through that if anyone needs an explanation in that scenario
THEREFORE, I think we should lynch 4, 3, and 2 players respectively on day 1, 2, and 3 to minimize the night kills and redistribution of power of the ratio. |

Need to dig into this more...
But, if you recall my experience as the mailman when I opted not to deliver anything, the concept of no night did not go over well.
Personally, I'm all for the pressure game, and use night as needed, but it's a probably a hard sell. |

Request from mod
Given this layout, is it safe to assume there are no potential night deadlines? |

I can see that logic, dez, working. IMO, this format is all about the numbers which is of course on the towns' side. |

as is public knowledge now, the last few weeks I have been playing mafia as all scum in both active games.
i've got scum on the brain.
FoS: Gomez for throwing out a vote so early on. especially when it goes against his normal play. this is FAR too aggressive for him as well as being odd considering he normally random votes.
funny thought. dez is too lazy to look at the signup thread but spends how long computing optimal lynching statistics. |
