AVG 8 free question

Ok, maybe I'm not getting this, but why did 7.5 take 30 minutes to scan my system and 8.0 is taking 90 minutes or three times as long to scan the exact same system??

7.5 took about an hour if IE was open, but 8.0 takes 90 minutes regardless. Did they slow it down to make me want to pay for the better version?

I wonder if its because of the new Spyware scanner component they put in version 8. Version 7.5 did not have it.

There are actually a ton of threads going around concerning AVG 8.

Here's a sampling.

»AVG 8 EXTREMELY slow?

»AVG 8?????

»AVG 7.5 expires

»AVG 8 Free Better Than 7.5 After Tweaking

This topic seems as good a topic to reply to on AVG 8 as any of the many others.

I've ditched AVG 8 from my laptop and suddenly web browsing is snappy again. Nice. And yes, I had already disabled the link scanner.
