Those wireless disconnects, but if you do what I did I can't be held responsible. Backup your current configuration if you were to mess up. Trendnet 432-brp allows you to do that.

Try this:

Go to your routers ip, mine is 192.168.3.1. Your may be 192.168.1.1.

I. 1. Wireless 2. Advanced.
II. 1.
anon : I have a trendnet 432 that I just switched on to get connected to att modem. I have tried everything and it still keeps dropping out every once in a while. My current configuration which allows nodes connected to it to access internet for 5-10mins has the modem doing PPP and connected to WAN port, the router having a DHCP IP assignment from it (I have tried static, the behavior is the same.. dropout after 5-10min).

Whats really interesting is that when the drop out does happen, I can still ping all the sites (yahoo, google etc). I can even tracert to them with one very interesting feature, the first hop (from my lappy) which should be the router at 192.168.2.1 actually times out, and the second hop (?) goes to the modem's LAN address of 192.168.0.1 and from there it proceeds quite normally.

If I repair the connection (release, renew) its no good, the renewal never works out. I have to plug off the router and plug it back in (which to me indicates something wrong with the router and not the modem) and again I can get connectivity for my ho9me network.

Any suggestion/ideas on what the real problem might be?

Affan

JohnC9 : For a different perspective, my TrendNet TEW-452BRP is also gathering dust - while in service. It's been a rock solid unit since I bought it back in Nov 07. It's only been turned off twice since about Jan 08, once to upgrade the firmware and then briefly during a power failure. It's sitting on top of a bookcase, literally gathering dust.

On the wireless LAN, there's five laptops, a desktop, two multi-function printer servers, a TiVo, a Wii and a cell phone. On the wired LAN, there's a desktop and a file server. The WAN is connected to a 6M DSL circuit. So, this router is pretty well used and gets quite busy.

I would highly recommed this router - especially for its price.

My only gripe with this box (and this is true of most consumer grade wireless routers) is that the wireless side can't be configured as a repeater/bridge/client, etc. It would be nice to have these options. Instead, we are forced to buy a separate wireless AP to perform these functions.

Also, it would be nice if it supported multiple SSIDs. The chipset supports it but the firmware doesn't take advantage of this feature. It would be nice to have a main SSID for ourselves and a "guest" SSID for our visiting guests.

Tech support? I don't have an opinion. I have never had to call them.

-John

dslfan : Not to sound like a hypocrite, I have put back this wireless device. Only used spare Antenna's for it and replaced card antenna which are "bigger" and thicker. The default antenna's that come with (Router and the network adapter) are smaller and weaker. Additionally flashed (tew-432) three times to .19. Will see how it goes, OP see if your firmware upgrade fixes issue too.

dslfan : My Trendnet wireless 432-BRP is sitting on the floor unplugged. It would reset itself each time. Called couple times, they made me downgrade firmware. Instead of releasing a newer one. During the few calls some reps were nice. Others were either cluess or did not want to help. They now released a newer version for the 432-brp C.x. But it still kept crapping out. Linksys works but sometimes drops but not as terrible.

My Canada trendnet version of none wireless router (forgot name TEW-SWCA??) is also on the floor unplugged. Sent first one back to them cause it was totally dead (at my expense) minus warranty. Which they covered and sent back to me a second one. This one works but has some other issues. My trendnet wireless card was shaky too and sits on the floor. Not sure what to do with these products. But trendnet surely pleased me as a customer -- not.

To save a few bucks seems like more bucks of self being in long run. What personally excited me was the price and style of their products. Will I try them again? : Perhaps or perhaps not. ("If they changed from last time"). LOL applicable quote?
czeman : I've had pretty much the same experience with their tech support. I e-mailed them about an issue I'm having with another router on June 14th. I finally received a reply from them on June 23rd. I started an unofficial support forum for TRENDnet's products a couple weeks ago for people like us that are sick of slow response times. I'm not going to provide a link here as I feel that would be SPAM. I have one member so far, and am hoping that things pick up. TRENDnet really does make some great products. There just needs to be a better place to go for support.

Fortunately, I have nothing but good things to say about their managed switches. I needed some help from Tech Support, and they were very helpful in helping me figure out what the problem was. It was an oversight on my part, but they sent me a tutorial and everything work great now! :)

eots : I've tried 2 of these routers and neither one of them could make a PPPoE connection, I also tried several different modems (all in bridge mode) and the Trendnet still wouldn't work when D-Link and Linksys routers had no problem with the PPPoE connection, so this is an obvious firmware issue and Trendnet does NOT have any of the previous firmware versions on their web site! If anyone has the older firmware for this router please let me know, I want to downgrade the router to see if that corrects the problem.
