| reply to McGusto Re: Tomato/MLPPP released (evade throttle or bond two DSL lines)
You need to forward ports for applications that require incoming connections. This is the same with every single NAT router on the face of the planet...
You can always enable UPnP and supporting applications will automatically do this for you.
Forwarding a port is not a security risk if the application listening on that port is secure. |

| reply to Guspaz I am a believer! After upgrading a WRT54GS V2 to tomato-mlppp-1.19-mp2beta2, I started a torrent and, literally, in seconds, the speed went from 0kbs to a steady 390-400kbs. You coders are amazing!
Thank you, |

| Sorry if this has been asked before - I have a wrt350n that is currently flashed with sveasoft. I use it primarily to tweak the range. Does the Tomato firmware support the 350n? Are we able to increase the range with it as well? Thanks in advance. |

| reply to Guspaz Anyone tried the Tomato/MLPPP V3 alpha? Is it stable?
Also when using MLPPP how are ping times and VoIP? Any problems making voice calls?
Can someone explain how MLPPP is circumventing the Bell throttling? Can Bell eventually throttle MLPPP as well?

Very stable and haven't noticed any changes to my ping times or skype call quality.
Take a look at the documentation at »fixppp.org for the rest. |

Peter MLPPP packets contain an extra 6 byte header which tells the PPPoE concentrator how to re-assemble the packets, the DPI boxes cant re-assemble packets or reorder them, so it passes them by as "I dont have a clue what this is, so, let it go!" |

Thanx for the explanation. DPI = deep packet inspection or a brand name? Is it safe to assume that it's something Bell can learn to "fix" and throttle us again?

join:2005-10-22 Waterloo, ON | reply to Guspaz Sorry for bumping such an old topic. Would it be possible to use Tomato/MLPPP to join the two DSL lines, and then let a pfSense box do the routing?
If so, how would one set this up?
Thanks! |

| reply to Guspaz Hello, I seem to be having problems with the scheduler. Is this the correct command for shutting wifi off? And same for turning it back on replacing down with up?
At the time I specified or it to be shut off the power light starts blinking and keeps blinking forever until I manually turn wifi off. And sometimes at the time for it to come back on it just won't.
Help would be appreciated, thanks. |
