jaykaykay : We use Qworst for that first mile, but the rest of our service is through Speakeasy. Maybe it's because we're very very close to a Qworst and that first mile has been stable as a rock and not caused any slow down that I am aware of. Is it possible that that same setup might work for your folks in Prescott? I am not aware if it is or isn't up there.

CableOne is a much better and just more all around responsible company than Qwest... people around here call Qwest "Qworst". Lol.
CylonRed : My step mom will be moving to a new house ahead of my father in Prescott. They plan on either using a cell phone or VOIP with high speed internet.

It looks like QWEST is the main ILEC. Are there any other ILEC's and what CLEC's cover the area? Who is the cable company and is their service any good?

Dad is not real hip on cable companies - I think he would prefer sat over cable. He might be hip on using WildBlue but if he gets VOIP then that would not be a a good solution otherwise all he needs is decent download speeds - no gaming so latency is not a real issue unless he tried to use VOIP over WildBlue.

Thanks,
--
Brian

Free health care is 100% a misnomer - it is not free and never will be free.
