I believe that was a requirement of the merger, I think they were forced to split off Embarq. If they could have, I'm sure they would have kept it. |

| I never understood why they merged in the first place. And then, to make matters worse, after they merger to they spun off Embarq. It would have made more sense to keep the local/long distance service cash cow for rough times like these. You can always count on those revenues coming in no matter what. Now what do they have? |
