actually, shaw digital phone does use the telephone wires in your house, but how it gets to the house is through the cable, so onces it gets in your house it uses your house telephone wires, and if you have adsl. then the shaw tech will leave the wiring for your adsl modem alone and put the rest of the phone jacks in your house for use on the shaw digital phone.

Not always. My digital phone is hooked directly into the modem for the phone, as I only needed one phone jack.
