Severe Weather Forecast Discussion May 16-20

348 PM EDT Thu. May 15, 2008

A low-level southerly flow in advance of an upper level disturbance will help to keep together convection as it lifts to the east northeast. The disturbance will lift into the lower mid-Atlantic late tonight and Friday and result in convection.
Low-level moisture will be in place ahead of a cold front. Dew pints will be in the 60s ahead of a developing surface low. This along with daytime heating will result in favorable instability for convection across southern Virginia into the Carolinas. Favorable mid-level lapse rates and shear may lead to a few cells to produce damaging winds and possible tornadoes.

Why is it that people who don't care about the weather are the first to bitch about it when it changes

The Gulf Coast region has some bad weather coming there way.

The storms look to be moving ENE and some of these cells have a tight, fast circulation.
