Modem question

I have a question about this Fujitsu modem.

When I hooked it up, I didn't appear to do any self tests, at least, none that were described in the book. The lights were off for about 3 seconds then the power light came on. It's not syncing up, but that's normal because Earthlink said my activation date was December 11th

Is this normal?

yes it is normal. All three green lights should come on around december 11 letting you know that the modem has synched up with the dslam in the CO.
