remember you also need to be able to dedicate 40+ hrs of weekly play time and willing to sacrifice any or all of the following:
• school grades
• job
• any semblance of social life
• BF/GF if applicable

must also be willing to accept any or all of the following:
• weight gain
• low hygiene
• no chance at obtaining a GF/BF (if applicable)
• eviction from college campus due to poor grades (from not showing up to class due to late night raids)

not trolling or mocking, just a fact of playing (and enjoying) MMOs. i played various MMORPGs for about 5 years and looking back, i gained absolutely nothing in life during that time b/c i dedicated way too much of my life to it. if you can manage to enjoy an MMO while maintaning a normal life-style, then go for it. But, be extremely aware that many people fall into these games and lose months, even years, to idleness and complacency.

my lists were accumulated via personal experience, and experiences shared with me by others who fell victim to similar games.

be warned!

btw, AoC looks really good.
There is a difference between dedicating yourself to a game, and playing to enjoy it. IMHO, the best MMORPG on the market right now for the casual gamer is World of Warcraft. For a small amount of time investment, you can accomplish a lot. I didn't need to sacrifice my marriage, job, playing hockey 2-3 times a week, or my social life.

As for accepting the things you mentioned, I accepted none of those. Didn't even lose my job.

Sure, a lot of mmorpgs out there demand a huge time investment. Some people have no self control, and many mmorpgs can be enjoyed without a huge time committment. So its all dependent upon the person.

Maybe I can lump the definition of a hockey player as in people who all have damaged teeth because I have seen many hockey players who get hit in the mouth during a game. Just an example....
