[Cable TV] Still getting channels after cancellation

I canceled TV but kept Internet/phone. The truck came and installed a filter I guess but I still get a good 10-15 channels. Is this typical or did the tech make a mistake? Is this permanent? Des Moines area if that helps...

What channels are they? If you get 2-22 they put the wrong trap on. If you have a HD tv with a built in qam tuner you will get the high freq digital channels in (like the HD locals) as the the filter is correct it just doesn't filter that high up.

mediacom uses a generic filter for most systems, this doesnt block all of the channels, most likely you will get some channels from the 60's and 70's on up...

No HDTV. I am getting 3-4 public access channels in the teens and about 10-12 channels in the 63-72 range. Not really channels I watched on a frequent basis but it is nice to have some channels before I sign up for D-TV latter this summer.

Seems pretty common.

Just depends on the tech and how energetic they feel that particular day. I once had the entire analog 'Family Cable' channels (2-78) for about 6 months before they finally got someone out to trap it. LOL

And of course you'll continue to get QAM unencrypted locals no matter what.

Thats got nothing to do with it. The thing is that The downstream signal for many of mediacom's systems are down around channels 98 and 14 while other systems are in the high end of the spectrum. Mediacom uses the same trap for all systems in a single area. And that trap HAS to pass the HSD Signal.

That is why you get some channels.

You just had a LAT
