IR Eye for DVR?

Can someone recommend an IR eye for the DVR? It's blocked by my coffee table at the moment so I would like to make use of the 1/8" jack in the back.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong(and I could very well be), but isn't that 1/8" jack in the back for if the DVR were able to control other devices, as in, if you had a VCR in your setup, you would plug the cord into the back of the DVR and put the other end in front of the VCR's IR receiver.

I know this is what the jacks were used for before STBs were DVRs.

As an alternative idea, somebody suggested this:

a few weeks back on the board. I don't know if it worked, but it might be worth a shot.

XANTECH makes an excellent product, try doing a search to see who might carry them.

You are correct kes601, the manual from Motorola says that it is an output IR to control other device (ie. VCR).

I have the same situation with the coffee (and sometimes the dog) blocking the IR signals to the box. I don't have the option to install it high.

Alright, thanks. I'll just wait a bit longer hoping that a Harmony One RF will come out then I'll seek alternatives.

Any chance you could put a mirror in the path to catch a reflection from another direction? Also might work off a glass door from an equipment cabinet.

I am usuing that device right now to control my box. It works great. and it works off of RF so you can be in any room and control the BOX. So far it working flawless in my basement.
