| reply to Neosum One more option is a command line tool from »www.pretentiousname.com/miscsoft
Take a look at ScreenSave on that page. Source code included. Again, you easily add a shortcut with a custom key to do a to shut down the display. |

| reply to Neosum You could create a shortcut on your desktop to %systemroot%\system32\Scrnsave.scr /s
Then, after making the shortcut, right click on the icon, and select Properties. On the SHortcut tab, set a hotkey of your choice in `Shortcut Key`.
This should give you a hot key to run the Scrnsave screensaver at will. |

2 edits | reply to Neosum The $3.00 one has the cursor feature. Reminds me of the old Win3.1 screensavers! LOL
[EDIT] I think I may get this... it does a heck of a lot more than shut down the monitor (see above). -- N.Y. Giants - Super Bowl XLII Champions |

1 edit | reply to Neosum Yeah, i just tap the blue power button on my Samsung. LCD's warm up in no time. There are some free Vista utilities that'll shut it down too, like this one (works well): »www.freevistafiles.com/RTSoftwar···tor.html
[EDIT] Oops! It's shareware ($3.00). Oh well, Google brings up a lot of hits. -- N.Y. Giants - Super Bowl XLII Champions |

| I have power management to automatically turn off my monitor after 15 mins of inactivity, but is there any way to put my monitor to sleep immediately in vista? I remember with macs, you just place your curser in the corner and that would do the trick. |
