 Pro account getting only 324k download and 433k upload.

Hi,
i just signed back on to att from charter. i used to have sbc dsl for a while. i had this problem before. it seems that they were capping my download speed. I was able to have it fixed through this site before.

I just signed up to a pro account.
im only getting 324k download speed and 433k upload on all test (att speed test, pcpitstop, and the test on this site.)

I didnt think it was possible to have a higher upload speed than download speed.

why do we always have this problem. how can it go from "up to 3mbps" to only 324K?

Right now your download speeds are on the 10-day speed ramp so that is part of your slow speed problem.

The other part might be that you still have tweak settings, e.g. MTU, RWIN and the like, still set for cable. Could you check that your tweak settings are correct for DSL: »/tweaks ?

Also be aware that cable connection rates are different than DSL rates. A Pro DSL circuit will sync at 3008kbps, but because of overhead you'll only see download speed tests around 2500kbps. And when you download files, your browser will report bytes, not bits like the speedtests. So a full Pro file download speed will be reported by your browser at around 300KBps.

But something seems wrong if your AT&T speed test only shows 324k. For a 1984 sync rate you should be seeing around 1.6Mbps (1600kbps). Can you run that one again just to be sure?

it really is them. im sure its capped. we used to get over 1.5 mbps (1500kbps) before we cancelled the last time we had att dsl.

304 kbps is really substandard.

ive ran a lot of different speed test and they are all around the 300kbps speed.

Your High Speed Internet Throughput (bits/second)

Your Throughput

Download = 304.24 kbps
Upload = 440.62 kbps

How long has this circuit been live?

Did you check the tweak settings like d_l See Profile suggested?

I see you already posted in Direct. I think something's really messed up and if you don't want to wait for Direct to get to you, which will probably be early next week, call in to support and try to get bumped to Tier2 ASAP. Those people can look at your profile and fix it in minutes, but getting to them might be a struggle.

My son is having the same issue, where his upload is higher than the download (250/325. Which doesn't make much sense to me.

Will the Tweak Tool work on a Mac?

Also, does anybody know where the Central Office for Culver City is located?

I have the exact same problem with my new Elite account. At first I thought it might be an issue with my inside wiring, so I ran a brand new 8' length of Cat5e straight from the demarc into a brand new jack, but the DSL modem is still showing 300K downstream, ~600K upstream (according to AT&T's own test web site).

Sheesh, I wish I'd read this thread BEFORE signing up!
