"Adaptive Display" just means that it will learn your habits an adjust the shutdown time accordingly. You can read more about the power settings here: »www.thegline.com/windows/2006/12···s-6.html

For the sake of troubleshooting, I would set everything to always on. Don't have anything power off. That will help eliminate your settings and/or the OS as the cause of the issue.
