| reply to Hayward Re: [Serious] Tea bags/gallon of tea?
Funny thing is that I'm originally from CT and often had unsweetened tea in the house. Before moving to NC, I'd order tea at a restaurant and never add sugar (it was not sweetened). My first sweet tea 'restaurant' experience was on a hot day when I was looking for a refreshing drink and ordered a large iced tea from McD's. I took two sips of the brown sugar water and tossed the rest of it--I couldn't drink it. Somehow, I must've become acclimated since then... |

| reply to Fisamo While I do sweeten both hot and iced tea slightly, I can't stand southern SWEET TEA.(tea flavored sugar)
And BTW way local (not chain) Coffee and TEA house (of KW) asked them that very question.... yes enough ask for it, we are going to start offering it as destible as even owner thinks it is, but they want their tea flavored barely liquid sugar... we'll sell it to them. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)

| sweet tea should have 2 cups of sugar to each gallon of tea made. the sugar MUST be added while the tea is still hot so that it disolves in properly. adding sugar/sweetener to tea after it is iced and you get one drink sweetened, the next not.
we use 3 family sized bags per gallon using a tea maker. if we have the small bags we used 5-6 of them and set the maker on strong brew.
we did switch to unsweetened tea several months back and that is all we make at home now. if i go to a restaurant that i KNOW makes good sweet tea i order sweet, if i am not sure i order unsweet. i cannot stand sweet tea that was not properly prepared/sweetened. -- Lack of Preparation on YOUR Part does NOT Constitute an Emergency on Mine! |

| Sorry onece again... to each their, own but SWEET TEA even PROBERLY made is nausiating... again it is tea flavored sugar not just sweetened tea.
ONE packet MAX per 12 oz glass for me... I actually like tea... the sugar is a spice, not a major ingredient. Same for iced coffee I have also seen made nausiatingly, instant tooth rotting sweet in the south. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)
