<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/0"><b>anon</b></A> : Dell XP CD's will work on other brand/make motherboards/BIOS's. BUT you must have a OEM key other then a Dell OEM to properly activate it. If you use the Dell OEM key on another brand/make motherboard/BIOS the activation will come back with a error that the key is tied to specific manufactures hardware which you are not using.<br><br>All that said a Dell XP CD may not even boot with certain motherboards/BIOS's or boot then just kick you out.]]></description>

I use them all the time to do that.  <br><br>If you're prompted for a PID, you will need to enter the PID on the COA label on the case.<br><br>You'll have to match the OS install disk to the PID you have.  If you built your computer you will need a retail OS CD for example.]]></description>
