I wouldn't say they have better coverage, but they are faster in my area (Herndon, Virginia). At least they were when I tested my Sprint USB with my friend's VZW PCMCIA card.. That and from what I understand USB is generally faster on VZW than PCMCIA.

I didn't know the result was the opposite in other parts of the country. Whereabouts have you experienced the opposite?

Sprint also roams on Alltel EVDO while Verizon does not. In the end, Sprint/Alltel has more EVDO coverage than Verizon.

I'm in the Northwest Indiana area. I have both Verizon and Sprint EVDO coverage at my house, and much of the surrounding areas. My boss's Verizon connection averages in the 800's down, mine 1100 - 1200.
