Channel freezes...

When I try to turn to FSN HD, it will freeze whatever channel I am currently on until I change the channel again or hit the "last" button. Does anyone else get this? It only seems to do it on this channel on HD.

Where are you located? There is no FSN HD on Verizon.

I assume FSN is Fox SportNet? Is this "freeze" occuring just tonight or has it been happening for a while? If it just tonight, it may be that the channel is blacked out for a local game that a local broadcast station has the rights to. Another explanation is that the FSN-HD channel is part-time, so it is an inactive channel when there is no HD game - which will be most of the time.

Well the Rays game is on; it comes on the SD version of FSN FL, but it doesn't on the HD.

I notice If I change channels up/dwn "fast" on the HD DVR, it many times when I stop on a channel will give a black screen, or often will show the wrong channel, as if the box can't "keep up" with the fast up/dwn channel surfing ...
.. Say I ch down a batch of channels to 804, then up to 805 & back to 804, all done "quickly" ... The video onscreen will still be showing the signal from 805 when the box is stopped on 804 .. eventually the picture will black out or become unavailable .. I need to change channels to get back to "normal" again ...

Sounds like you're having signal ingress.

Black screens, pixelation and subscribed channels coming up "Channel not available" is a signal issue.

Reseat the coax cable on your STB and reboot your STB. If that doesn't help, call tech support, you need a tech to come out to your home and he'll bring a sunrise meter to get a db reading on the line and splitter.

I see exactly the same thing as MeatChicken sees. All I need to do to avoid it is slow down on pushing the channel up/down buttons on the remote. I only have one HD DVR so I cannot try it on another, have never seen the problem on either SD box. I don't think I ever saw this before the IMG deployment, have had the same DVR for 2 1/2 years, generally works great.

Annoying but not really a biggie, but it would be nice to get it fixed.

FSN does not always have a feed on their HD channels. It rarely will upconvert SD.

What you are seeing is what the Vz STBs do if there is no signal on a channel you tune to...it will show you a frozen picture of the previous channel.

This is not a Vz issue, as FSN SW that my parents have on Suddenlink in Arkansas does the same thing with their feed.

This is Exactly my problem, .. it's only tied to how fast you up/dwn channels, is only on the HD DVR, & started as soon as the new IMG rolled out.
