OLPC moving to Windows XP from Linux ...

... and the programmer that created the XO's user interface and started his own company will try and sell his Sugar UI to other manufacturers like ASUS(maker of the Eee PC).

The sad part is, the OLPC interface was great.

The reality, having an OLPC with Windows XP will do more to advance 3rd world countries than some new laptop with an entirely irrelevant OS.

How and why is GNU/Linux entirely irrelevant? What does XP bring to third world countries that GNU/Linux does not?

Absolutely, because for someone who claims to be a network engineer in their site profile, calling Linux an "entirely irrelevant OS" stinks of not having a clue.

I really should update that.

I support 11 CentOS 5.1 servers ... with a few SuSe boxes thrown in, along with 3 Windows SQL boxes.

I'm definitely not a "Network Engineer."

Okay, but that begs the question... If you work with and actively support a Linux system, why would you call Linux an "irrelevant OS" ?
