i have a 8800gts and a 8600gts. with the 8600 the computer boots normal and i can see stuff on the screen. however when the 8800gts is in the computer boots as it should but nothing comes on the screen.(never) i cant even get in to the bios.i have a 650 watt power supply. all the connections are great.the fan on the card comes on when the pc turns on. the monitor is a dell and it only has dvi on the back. its a gygabite mobo. i dont know what could be wrong, any hints???

Sounds like a bad video card. Any card should show the boot screen and BIOS as it is standard VGA. The only way to know for sure would be to try it in another computer. If you just bought it, you can contact the vendor or technical support.

The only other thing that comes to mind, would be the power connector. Most all of the newer video cards have a power connector. If it isn't connected, most cards will still function in low power mode at lower resolutions (so that the card will still be usable), however, some cards won't function at all.

Power, Power, Power. I always say it's power related, and it always is.
