| Vista Upgrades
I need to purchase a new laptop (need a smaller one for travel). This machine will be accessing two company's networks, so I'll be sticking with Windows on it. The laptop I'm looking at comes with Vista Home Premium. From a security standpoint, is it worth it to spend the extra money on the upgrade to Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate? |

XP Pro allowed domain use and had better folder security and sharing capabilities than XP Home. Vista Business is the better of the Vista choices for similar reasons. |

| reply to mikenolan7 If you were not on company network i would say it is not worth the upgrade for the security as there is no difference unless you want bitlocker feature (ultimate) What about joining the domain because as suggested Premum can't, unlike other 2, connect without a workaround? See for lively debate »[Vista] Vista and SBS 2K3 will not play nice

| Oh yeah it is! It just tends to get confusing at times which option is the best option. |

| reply to mikenolan7 I would go with Vista Ultimate 64. You can use BitLocker for this laptop, you can backup the complete computer with Ultimate and the connection to the company networks will be easy. You can customize the built-in Firewall very fine. -- Regards from Germany. Please excuse my stumbling English |
