| Dish Network = very bad customer service.
Dish Network what a joke.
Ordered Dish through AT&T on 05/07/08 and setup the install with a CSR Diontay for an installation for Saturday 05/17/08 between 12 noon and 5 pm.
Well today time went by and no installer showed up so another call was made to AT&T and confirmed through Dish by Ms. Scott at 2:10 PM the installer would be here on-time and this later this call was backed up by another call to AT&T at 4:15pm and confirmed through Dish by Mr. Jones that the installer would be on-time
Well just before the commitment time of 5:00pm I received a call from Dish Network from a person claiming to be a Dish representative one Mr. Fredrick advising they would be late quite late and hopefully "I did not have any plans for the evening HIS WORDS as they will be here for a 3 maybe 4 hours after they arrived late.
The install for now has been canceled and I doubt I will ever waste my time trying to business with Dish ever again as they are without a doubt as close as one can come to a cable company when it comes to meeting at due date.

What was the incentive to order thru AT&T? Why not Dish directly? The order was through AT&T and passed through Dish as my BellSouth Americast service is being phased out by AT&T and since I am on fiber to the curb IFITL U-Verse is not available to me yet so the Dish was to be a stop-gap until U-Verse lands here.
None the less bottom line a service was ordered well in advance of being needed the due date and time was confirmed and then the commitment was missed and in my business that lands one a considerably bad position and a not so nice one on one with the foreman and maybe some regulators and I expect nothing less from any provider I deal with.

| It was decided a long time ago cable is too expensive and their customer service is too unreliable for me to chance trying them again. I did send a rather nasty letter to AT&T giving them 30 days to correct the problem and arrange another installation plus kick in a substantial (equivalent to a day of my AT&T pay) rebate for the missed commitment and aggravation. If they (AT&T) fail to follow through and correct this I will hold them fully responsible for their subcontractors (Dish) actions and cancel all of my services wireline voice wireless voice and data Americst cable and ADSL with AT&T. They will kiss $250+ per month in billing goodbye and have one really pissed off employee.

| reply to Splitpair I've had Dish for 4+ years and have no complaints. I believe that a lot of that reason goes to the fact that I've dealt directly with Dish since day 1 and never an intermediary.
Not being critical of ATT, but sometimes it seems like their customer service gets stretched a little thin, and I can only imagine that trying to coordinate through another level of support would only complicate matters. |

In my case AT&T only did the billing and then handed me off to Dish to set the appointment and collecting credit information. That will not happen twice this time AT&T if they wish to retain me as a subscriber will set the appointment and then get back to me with the results.
My reason for involving AT&T is they offer a bundled discount when Dish is added to the billing and as an existing AT&T customer I can leverage them as an advocate for me against Dish in resolving this problem. Dish made the mistake but since the service is offered as AT&T/Dish I will hold AT&T responsible for the overall customer experence.

| reply to Splitpair I have just gone through one of the worst customer service fiasco's ever. I though Comcast was terrible, but DISH is now my worst. I'm moving and needed to cancel my service. I called a couple weeks in advance, to make sure it went smoothly. I was put on hold several times during the conversation, as she tried to shedule a simple removal for 2 weeks later. After 45 minutes, she finally got it scheduled. Then I said my credit card was going to expire, and while I had her on the phone, could she change the expiration date to match my new card. That night, I had a message saying they would be there The Next Day to get my dish. I had to call them again. I tell the guy that they've scheduled the removal date wrong, that's it's supposed to be in 2 weeks. He puts me on hold for several minutes, then comes back and says "great, we're all set to come get it tomorrow". No, no, no! I was livid. It took another 45 minutes to get it scheduled right. Then, a couple nights later, I get a message from DISH saying my credit card is going to expire and I'm going to have late fees if I don't get it changed. Luckily, I could change that online and not face another phone call. What that person did that first talked to, who knows. So this morning they come to get my dish. I was at work, and they called to say I was going to be first at 8 AM. Fine, I would meet them at my house. Then, 2 minutes later, at 7:22 AM, the removal guy calls, saying he's outside my house and where am I. I was at work, and couldn't leave then, so I tell him he's way early, and can't he do someone else first and do me next? No -he said if he leaves he won't be back that day. So I say too bad, he's way early, he'll just have to wait. What a waste of his time, but he insisted I had to be first! So I meet him at 8 AM, as scheduled, and he says, "so, you're moving in?" What? No, I said he's taking the dish, not delivering one. He's shocked! He has to call his boss! After all that, they still couldn't get it right!!! |

None the less unless AT&T/Dish moves toward what I am seeking another provider will be found.
BTW looking at DTV it appears they use a single receiver per set not doubling two sets off a single receiver which would simplify the wiring.

Wayne Also DOUBLES the monthly cost... a trade off... with existing cable layout a usually easy matter to do that routing, which also does not require RG6, even old RG59 will sevre fine for that, as it is just standard V/UHF freqs. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)

While I agree with you on Comcast... what were you doing with Dish but maybe confusing them and why a service call needed.
Their DISHmover program is simple... take you receiver(s)/DVR with you.... LEAVE the dish.
Set up the INSTALL date at new location, there should be no removal date???
EDIT oh rereading, you maybe don't intend to continue DISH at new location?
If so, still shouldn't have been that big a problem you could just call and tell em kill it day you left, and for a few bucks and no time off work hassles, just ship the receiver back, either way they leave the dish these days... makes possible future installs a lot easier. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)
