Anyone else losing sync - weekends?

Good grief!

Last Saturday night (05/10/08) around 11:30pm EST, and now again this Saturday night (05/17/08) around the same time my Motorola modem just starts going nuts losing sync every 30 seconds. I've tried 2 different line filters, along with NO filters, same results.

This is nutty, is it me or AT&T? I never lose sync at all during the week, I'm really not doing anything differently on weekends.

Any thoughts? Ugh....

I have been loosing my sync on a regular basis, not just weekends, starting about 4 weeks ago. Now I only get 30k down, I replace the filters and the modem, not any better, a tech came to my house and was baffled. Thinking about switching to cable. Bellsouth sucks now that att took over (the only change I can figure out.

How did you get a tech to come to your house?
I'm in Memphis, TN and calling tech support caused my
blood pressure to rise and no problem resolution.
I'm sure the problem is in the phone line as I hear
noise when the DSL sync drops.

Thanks,
Emory

If you cannot fix it with a buttset and some bennies you ain't a technician.

I have been fighting this same problem for the last 3 months. I had voice and data service at this physical location for over two years prior to switching to a dry loop service about a year ago. I never had these problems with the regular voice and data. The current service is 3Mbps and will work fine throughout the week (M-F). Every single weekend, my down speeds drop to around 30Kbps. My upload speed is still maxed out around 384Kbps.

A phone call to tech support will go through all of the normal hoops (power cycle everything, run speed test, etc., remove filter, reapply filter). The customer service guy on the phone will consult a line technician on the other line, and then things will begin to work again. This will be fine until the next weekend when I will have to go through the process again.

There have been two field technicians to my location in the past couple of months, and neither of them see any problem with either side of the NID.

I am starting to wonder if this isn't a reaction to people moving to dry loop service. They never wanted to offer the dry loop to begin with, and were forced to by the FCC. It could be an approach of offering horrible service so people will leave the dry loop, or leave all together.

I lose Sync every time there are thunder storms around which is everyday around 4 pm in Florida.
I just bought a new netopia modem to replace my westel 6100 and hope this will make things better.

Netopia (replacing my Westell 6100) solved my thunderstorm problem. Please report back your results

Ok, now I can say wit certainty that the Thunderstorm loss of sync problem was caused by the westell 6100.
I have been using the Netopia 2100 for 2 days and there is ZERO loss of sync during thunder storms, I mean ZERO!
I think ATT should know about that.
