| remote assistance
trying to get remote assistance from laptop to desktop - worked okay with previous isp, but recently changed, and went with a netgear wireless router... now remote assistance wont connect - "cant resolve host name" I am pretty sure it has to do with port 3389, but I don't know how to open it? any help? TIA |

| Are you asking about Remote Desktop Assistance or Remote Desktop Protocol? As far as I know RDA does not require that you forward 3389. RDP definitely requires that you forward 3389 to your computer with either a static IP or static DHCP. There is a way to set up RDP with uPNP on a Linksys router, but I haven't found a way to do it with Netgear.
It should be obvious from my post that I'm not a guru on these things. I'm just relating my experience. |
