The RIAA has nothing to do with this process, fortunately, nor do they receive any of the proceeds from the lawsuits. They all go to the folks that are actually suing, the record companies. Of course, they are paying RIAA to prosecute the suits.
One hopes that the lawsuit mentioned in the eugenegill article goes forward because t might make public exactly how much has been taken in by the suits and where it went. |

A troll has nothing to do with personal attacks, that's just called being a jerk. A troll is someone who makes off topic or controversial comments with the intention of gaining attention or causing conflict.
I have noticed that you never justify your opinions on copyright infringement, and that is likely the reason he (and many others) feel you are simply trolling. Perhaps you could explain why you feel copyright infringement is no different from stealing a physical object. And if you are unable to explain it, perhaps you should reconsider your opinion as being wrong. |

Perhaps they are crooks but in this case the people going after them are very bigger crooks in my book. These media companies are collecting huge sums of money by forcing people to by content they couldn't sell in a free market but can force people to pay for to get the stuff they want.
If Hollywood ever decided carried out their business in an ethical manner I might feel sorry for them but they don't so I hope TPB and others like them bleed the scum for every penny they can. |

2) You never handle or hold such goods
3) You're not paid money for such goods

Just because some people choose to break the law does not mean corporations can strangle my rights to do what is legal for me. Guns are used to commit crimes, as are cars, should both/either be made illegal because some people use them to commit crimes?
And actually, I was a little to conservative in my original claim; it appears any download of copyrighted material for personal use is not illegal in Canada...yet.
