| An open letter: TDS + Arise
Since Tuesday evening all TDS customers have been unable to load www.arise.com or any of their family of sites. arise.com is a work from home client so the loss of the ability to access this site is costing all TDS customers who work through arise their income. Many ppl have called the TDS tech support and been told its Arise's issue. Arise states that it is TDS's issue. TDS says that Arise.com datacarrier TerreNAP (TerreMARK) is blocking tds.net customers and they don't know why. Arise says that TDS is blocking the arise.com website based on an outdated blacklist.
Basically I do not care who is at fault I just know that we are unable to access the website and traceroutes go through to the terrenap network and drop off after a certain point (2 hops from arise.com).
If anyone who works for TDS will investigate this issue further then the he said she said way of thinking please do. I have a real full time job and only do arise part time but for many other TDS customer it is their only source of income and it is severly effecting your customers way of life.
Thank you Robert |

| When you do a traceroute (linux) or tracert (windows) to arise .com do the hops make it past the TDS network before they start to fail (***)?
As a workaround, can you use a web proxy to access arise.com as you need to? -- Very happy TDS DSL user | Wildblue in Lake Michigan |

| Yes the trace routes failed on a hop 2 away from the arise.com IP on the Terrenap (Terremark) network. Through hard work on the customer's behalf Lisa and I (Lisa mostly) have gotten the the right person finally and the issue has been resolved as of this afternoon. Its just sad it took customers and almost a week to get it resolved. |

| reply to evilt00l This is and was not a TDS issue. Arise was listed on 3 Blacklist sites. They only resolved 2 of them at 1st. They failed to resolve themselves from Spamhaus thus still creating a void in ability to access the site. The TDS techs told this to the arise techs who said they would take care of it. |

@tds.net | reply to evilt00l For what its worth, I did some digging. The Terrenap (Terremark) network comes back to Kingston, Jamaica. It did show up reported as having an odd IPv6 BPG "odd route" recently.
That would sure explain the inability to reach arise.com |
