Not the 1st company to do this.

So why are these congress critters coming after them? We need to follow the political donation trail on this one.

I've seen people that have talked about it but, who actually does this besides Charter?

Embarq, CenturyTel, Knology, WOW, and Broadstripe that I can tell.

Others exist I'm sure.

And all combined don't equal the number of subscribers Charter has

They all also buried announcement of their use of NebuAD in fine print and avoided getting slammed in the press...which is just as likely an explanation for why they didn't get singled out.

I am pretty certain these hearings will be canceled once the protection money from Charter arrives.

In all seriousness that is likely very accurate.

Follow the money. Do a trace route from your IP to Charter.net and verify all the hops along the way through Arin see who all the money makers are. They have been leasing space and bandwidth for some time now. Trace route some of your own internet browsing history from your firewall reports and see who they have leased this third party info to.

This is just a small portion of their marketing strategies to "enhance your internet experience" while your checking some of your history your going to find all the data mining and security that is in place as to "enhance their record of your history and practices".

This is more then marketing, and data mining and preventing piracy. It is pure greed Neil The over-crowing on the internet with IP addresses is a problem in he US, I could see their shift overseas. ISP redirects handled by third party vested US companies doing business overseas. I would not put it past the major carriers to form a Corporation and capitalize on being part of the third parties. Check your logs, look at some of the new companies. Look at where the IP address takes you. Some of these companies or IP addresses have been talked about in DSL forums or on sans.org.

Edward Markey is one of the most brilliant Congressmen we have. We might want to elect him Congressman over the virtual district! This isn't about $$$$. He is the real deal.
