Verizon DSL with VPN?

I just moved to southcentral PA and have Comcast cable for my ISP. I work 100% from home connecting via VPN and the performance is just horrendous! I can't access half the programs I need to do my job.

Does anyone use a VPN over Verizon DSL or have any knowledge of whether it would work better? I want to make sure before I undertake the expense and hassle of changing my ISP after only a month or two.

Thanks!

DSL and VPN works just fine ... what is the speed package you have with Verizon? and what was it on Cable?

VPN needs bandwidth

It's most likely because you need port forwarding inside the modem

I use Verizon DSL for VPN connections with no issues.

One thing you may want to investigate is the upload speed of your Comcast connection. Most cable connections are very stingy on the upload. If you create a lot of content locally, this can be an issue and make things seem very slow.

Verizon DSL gives you 786 upload speed which is 2 or 3 times typical cable speeds.

I use an IPSec VPN every day and have for years on Verizon DSL. The PC has a software client and my work IP phone has an internal firmware IPSec client. No problems. Works great.

Thanks for all the replies. I have the standard "high speed internet" package on Comcast, which they say is 6Mbps for downloads. They don't quote the upload speed, which I guess is typical. They offer a Powerboost package which is $20 more a month than I currently pay and it claims "up to" 12Mpbs for downloads. Again no upload quote.

It seems like DSL may be the way to go.
