We're using a Cisco 7304 with an OC3 card installed (7300-2OC3ATM-SMI) running IOS 12.2(20)S10 for remote site connectivity. On the active OC3 (atm3/0) interface (containing 312 sub-interfaces) I am seeing a trickle of CRC errors accumulate but the number of aborts is increasing at a large rate. Do the aborts signify it sees a physical layer issue?
It sounds like physical layer issue. Call your ISP or telco to do some loop testing.

d-mark
You mean demarc. Its short for "demarcation".

But I wouldnt neccessarily replace the cable, sometimes all it takes is to clean the ends (note: with a fibre cleaning kit!), particularly if the environment the service is installed in can be a little dusty.
