Re: Thanks for confirming, neighbor!

Sustained download is downloading some BIG file, or files, that will run for longer than PowerBoost lasts.

Speed tests do not run long enough for PowerBoost to run out so anything shown is just Boost.

What exactly is "sustained download file transfers" if these speedtests don't show it? How can I also test for it?
See fndelta See Profile's post just above yours.

So if it's upload in the range of 2 to 3 Mbps that defines Blast, then I'm not it. So I've got reason to take to tech support. But according to the other thread, my "silver" is just one notch above standard. It's not even PowerBoost... or is it? I'm rated at download 6 Mbps and upload 384 Kbps. Do they (or did they) simply add "Powerboost" on top of my "silver" without charging me? (Another reason why I'm glad to discover all these things here and not directly from the Comcastic horse's mouth)

Just now during this dinner hour, I get:

I've always been skeptical and glad to hear somebody describe it. I notice so many replies in this thread and elsewhere with speedtest results worse than mine but they happily report getting Blast. LOL.

This is Blast

This is why it is worth it to get Blast

Hate to tell you... that is not Blast neighbor.
Blast would have "speedtierextreme2" in the name.

What you are seeing is PowerBoost.
Uploads on a speed test should be ~3mbps with sustained 2mbps actual file transfers.

Sustained download file transfers run right at 17.2 - 17.3mbps here in Hercules.

I was trying to cancel Comcast because of cost, but they offered me an introductory rate for Blast at slightly higher than what I was paying, which was a double repeat 6-month promotional of standard. I have NOT received any email confirmations or statements or modem configurations for the upgrade change that says I'm getting Blast. It's just been a few days since I called them.

Here's what I've been getting (for several months as I recall). Isn't this already Blast speed? I can top 30 Mbps during "quiet hours" like right now (noon time). I average in the upper 20s. Here's one from a few minutes ago:

Here's another one just before posting:

Technician was in my house a couple days ago checking the signal. I was complaining that I was NOT experiencing any DIFFERENCE since they said they've switched me a few days ago (at the central office or wherever). I thought I was suppose to see an even faster download. Technician said my signal "at the modem" was very weak. He improved it from -20 dBmV to about -15 by replacing my splitters. I've been checking through the browser and it fluctuates between -8.0 and -15.9 depending on temperature and/or time of day. Here's the reading following the speedtest above:

So I also search the log for the .cm file as you suggest. The latest version seems to show "silver" or just standard:

The earliest date that the page shows same:

So what's the conclusion? Why should I pay extra for Blast? They can't continue the 6-month promotional for my status quo. My "standard" rate will jump to much HIGHER than their introductory Blast rate! So I'm threatening to cancel.
