maybe this is an attempt to undermine verizon wireless's evdo/lte plans on within their footprint. seeing as verizon is the all services extra provider.. cablevision might be spoiling for a fight in the wireless arena. which I think is excellent considering the next logical step.. porting the voip into wifi sip phones a synergy verizon would not like to hear about. |

1 edit | I wonder if Verizon will try to offer a combined FiOS + EV-DO plan to compensate- though that could be difficult with the wireline/wireless division at the company, and the fact that they'd be competing with a "free" service.
A VoIP phone service over this would definitely be an attack on Verizon and the other wireless companies- do phones exist that can do handoffs from one Wi-Fi cell site to another, though? Without handoffs it's much less of a competitor to cellular wireless. |
