Not everyone has an HD tv yet. And I can tell you use netflix, and already enjoy their high quality downloads..
I refuse to watch most low-def programming anymore. The picture quality is awful... but that's more because of my cable provider then anything else.

Oh wait, you don't? What a surprise, a review, and an opinion without seeing or using the product..
I do have Comcast, so I am perfectly qualified to comment on the result of watching a video stream using their Internet service.
Do you have Netflix?

No. I already pay enough money to Comcast to get me all the low-def content that I won't be bothered to watch. Why would I pay someone else money for more low-def content?

Are you suggesting that just because I haven't seen low-def content from Netflix via this service that I shouldn't be commenting? Does Netflix' low-def content "magically get better" because of this offering?

Those are your words, not mine. But you mention watching streaming from Comcast, not from Netflix. Two different things.

Well, until there's an HD offering, its pointless.

For me personallly it is not. I am not sure if my 5 year old cares if a movie is HD or not.. Ilove my BluRay player, don't get me wrong. But a hi def movie on Xbox Live is about 5 gigs or so and on my 5 mbps DSL line it would take forever and a day to watch.

I like the Netflix option as the movies have very little buffer time. I am into instant gratification.

You might also want to consider Redbox and their free Monday rentals.

I am not terribly impressed with RedBox. There is one at the local grocery store and the selection seems pretty poor.

I don't watch much TV; I don't use my Netflix very much. I won't pay $39/month in order to watch one cable channel.

I find Redbox sufficient for my very occasional boredom-induced need to watch a DVD, and the terms more than reasonable. The selection is very limited, but thats ok.

I expect the Netflix STB will actually be a hit, so long as they make efforts and strides to grow their "instant viewing" library from 10K titles to 50K titles. The internet viewer quality is excellent - it will certainly look good on my NTSC TV. No desire for HD here.
