[general] sprint hybrid modem compatability

can the hybrid wbr60-231b modem be used for other internet signals besides sprint? I received my dear john letter
from sprint stating my service in phoenix would be terminated on 7/31/08

Is a modem a modem or does each ISP have their own units??
