Here are my recent tests. Speedtest, I was told, is good only for bursts, so my fabulous score apparently only show PowerBoost, not Blast.
So I went to testmy as recommended by others. This is one of my typical sustained download results (100MB download):

Here's a dual test, but they provide only download results:

How much better is Blast? Can you please post your results using the same tests? Please post screenshot of both upload and download. TIA |

Powerboot is a boost (temporary increase) in speed for when you are downloading files from the internet, usually large files are more noticeable. It is temporary.
Blast! is a faster internet connection, compared to the "Performance Plus" speed of 8Mbps Down 768Kbps Up (varies on region) to "Blast" which is 16Mbps Down 1-2Mbps(varies on community/region) Up. |

Again, please post your download/upload tests as screenshot
The reason why I ask is because I'm skeptical anybody is getting it much faster than me, with or without Blast. I don't want to make it subjective, so I need to see your numbers as visual proof. I'm sure the sentiment is shared by others just from their topic titles.
FWIW, I'm supposed to be on the 6/384 configuration according to this thread. You can see why by reading THE DISCUSSION that I mentioned above. |

It's what happens AFTER PowerBoost runs out.
When Performance Plus(8mbps) PowerBoost runs out on a big download... you continue at 8mbps
When Blast(16mbps) PowerBoost runs out on a big download... you continue at 16mbps.
Same applies to upload PowerBoost.

Blast - 2mbps
Speed tests are whack for Comcast customers now.

Yes, two(4 actually) computers and I can edit my posts from any of them...
This computer is wireless and will usually max out at 17-18mbps no matter what PowerBoost is capable of.
The wired laptop on my desk can(and does) hit 33-35mbps during PowerBoost.
Testmy.net has never given me decent test results, whereas me downloading big files from a fast site(like dl.tv) will crank my connection - ask anyone here!

EDIT: Ok, I'm on the wired laptop now.
Fired off a speed test at Testmy.net... RIIIIIGHT!
Afterwards, lit up a few DivX downloads from dl.tv.
See pics.
Real World downloads show that I get all of the 16mbps Blast service.

Just for S & G, ran the Testmy.net test again from the wireless laptop... still not right.

I have been downloading the huge DivX files from DL.TV since reading your reply in the other thread. This morning, the Comcast people are suppose to change my modem firmware for Blast, so I'm curious to gauge the performance before and after. |

| One last time my Friend... not one download - several at the same time.
Start one, scroll down, start another, scoll down, start another, etc.
When you have 4-6 actually downloading... see what it is doing then.
See what it is doing after a few hundred MB have been transferred like my download screen above.
Remember, Blast will do nothing for everyday surfing.
Blast is so when you decide to download something, you get it sooner.
Also, when you send something to someone... 2mbps is great compared to 768k.

I have no experience with this program, but the person who recommended it said it was like NetMeter.
So, give it a try and see how it goes.
If you're running Windows in virtual PC, download flashget while you're at it. Even with one download, you should see the whole 16Mbps. IF you're using Flashget: »www.flashget.com/en/download.htm
But as Dadkins said, lighting up several DLs at once is the best way to max your connection to really see what your line speed is. |

So now I'm looking at my KB/sec numbers above, several minutes into the multiple downloads. Considering your graph is kbps but your speed column is KB/sec (wary of kilobits versus kiloBytes), how can I get what I get with only PowerBoost?

What you see is 225 PER file.
The way PowerBoost works, if there is a hiccup in the download, it will sometimes trick PowerBoost to start again(I've seen it here).
When *we* start several downloads, it minimizes that hiccup possiblity and runs steady.
