You'll only see a discount if Apple allows AT & T to purchase them with a discount. More than likely you will be looking at the same type of deal - AT & T will just be reselling a device that Apple will have inventory control on, warranty control on, ect. I doubt Apple will make any changes since they get up to 30% of the monthly revenue for the line that has an iPhone active (also explains why you do not get your employer discount - which I agree with if Apple gets a cut)
I do expect the same type of hype as the original and many people calling to complain when their iPhone is getting slow speeds because they went out and brought the new 3G phone but live in an area that is not 3G and didn't bother to check the coverage map before hand |
