| Moving RG to different location in house?
My situation is that I may need to get Uverse installed before my remodel is done. So if I get the RG installed in the room next to where the remodeling is going, is it a problem to move it to the new room once it is finished?
All the wires go through the new room anyway. Both the connection to the NID and to all the house locations. So all I would need to do is disconnect the RG and move it to the new room and pull the wires back into the new room and reconnect. I can't think of a reason why this would be an issue, but I thought I would ask.

twisted pair can be a little tricky...make sure it's the same pair they use in the NID. |

| Everything is CAT5E.
But I don't see why it matters. It should be unplug the RG, carry it to the other room, Pull the wires back through the hole in the wall, plug in the RG, patch the hole in wall. |

| I would have the premises tech install the jack for you or at least run the cable and you can install the jack because if you move the RG to a new location and run the cable yourself and it ends up in a truck roll things can get pricey. Minimum for a truck roll is around $75 and there would possibly be the charge for a new drop which is also $75.
So if you havent had the install yet, advise the tech prior to any cable being run that you will plan to move the RG and its possible that he/she can get you taken care of. If it is installed, well best of luck because all too often it seems simple and it turns out being a little odd in the setup.
Just my 2 cents from experience in that area.

| I guess I wasn't clear. The wires are in the wall that is shared between the two rooms. So it will be just having a hole in the wall to route the cable from the jack to the RG. Once it is moved, pulling the wires back through the hole. And plugging the RG back in.
Am I missing something? |
