I guess WoW is a clone of X, and X is a clone of Y, and Y is a clone of Z, and .... you get my point I think.
All MMORPG's have taken this and that from previous MMO's.
Just really makes me want to throw up when someone spews shit from their mouth like "X game is a clone of WoW". WoW is nothing new... just dumbed down for the masses.
BTW, I don't play AoC so I'm not here being some fanboi... infact, I play WoW.  |

Well I've tried pretty much every paid for MMO and played these MMO's over the years to top level:
-Ultima
-EQ1
-EQ2
-WoW
-City O' Heroes
-LOTR (never maxxed - but close)
Conan is pretty damn impressive. For some reason screenshots don't look near as good as the game does live - even if you're standing still. The closest graphics in another MMO is EQ2 - at least sytle wise. It looks a heck of a lot better than EQ2, but that's what came to mind.
I've only got a couple of hours into it so far but I'm impressed as hell. A lot more impressed than I was when I started playing LOTR-O.
Vanguard was obviously a piece of crap after playing it for an hour. Conan so far looks like it could be easily much more fun than LOTR-O. The character creation and class selections are really nice - a crapload more variety than LOTR or WoW.
My opinon so far is it's worth $49.99 just to get to try it for a month.
-2 DVD's
-25.2 GB's installed and patched
-Patching was fast, looks like they have the direct patching server quality of an SOE patching server
-took about 2 hours to install and patch
-On Vista - it requires SP1, won't start with out it
(btw Auto Update for Vista will not pull down SP1 for Vista - you have to force the issue or download the self contained SP1 installer)
- CTRL+ALT+F will bring up a frame-rate counter
BTW - if anyone wants a collectors version, I was in a Frys Electronics today (USA/TX) and they had a stack of them. Whoever said they all sold out must have been talking about sold out to stores or something. I forget the price, but Frys was selling the standard version for $39, which is $10 less than Gamestop. |

1 edit | This is on my laptop with a T7100, overclocked 8700GT, and 4GB of ram. I can run with most settings on high but I have to turn off full shadows. I have not attempted to run in DX10 mode yet, simply because I know it will run so bad it won't be worth it.
Just loaded up the game to play around with some settings and I overlooked an option for the distance fog, so I cranked that baby up as evident in the fourth photo.

There is plenty of WOW in AOC, not saying thats bad. Also alot of WOW is copied from other games and hence it is also in AOC as well. AOC is a good game but much of it is used material such as UI, etc. |
